Cetáceos

Clara and Alejandro decide to move in together. In the middle of the moving process, he travels to a conference. Alejandro’s absence and the new house produce a state of boredom in Clara that drives her into accepting odd company, and even taking up tai chi sessions that drag her into participating in a spiritual retreat. She is thus immersed in a world that has little to do with her old life: the peculiar group that participates in the retreat, the incursions into nature, the arrival of Martín, a cetacean expert who will catch a special essence in Clara. In the meantime, Alejandro phones her constantly to tell her about his success at the conference, Clara pretends everything is the same. While she lies to Alejandro, all these events spark something in her: Clara will not be able to ignore that things are no longer where they used to be.

Moacir III

The third and last part of the trilogy where we see Moacir as a film director: the film and the scenes that Moacir conceives and shoots – scenes entertained, tragic, dramatic and romantic – with its particular cinematic and aesthetic style. On the other hand, we see the behind the scenes of the construction of this film: a documentary that shows Moacir conducting his fictions, in everyday familiar situations.

Clementina

Juana (Cecilia Cartasegna) returns home after a savage attack from her husband Mateo (Emiliano Carrazzone) causes her to lose their baby. Although she covers for him, her husband has run off fearing indictment. Alone in the large apartment, every noise she hears leads her to suspect her husband has returned home. As the noises and disturbances worsen and Mateo is nowhere to be found, Juana is forced to consider the possibility that her home might be haunted. Jimena Monteoliva’s solo directorial debut expertly builds tension maintaining a sense of unease from the start that creeps higher until the frightening and suffocating shocker of a third act. Cecilia Cartasegna delivers with a classically terrifying portrait of a woman on the edge. —Joseph Hernandez

Kryptonita – kryptonite

What would have happened if Superman’s ship hadn’t landed in Smallville, but in a poor city next to Buenos Aires? Based on the superb comic book by Leo Oyola, Kryptonita tells the story of an unconventional roguish Justice League (a classic Robin Hood metaphor), trying to save Kal-El’s life from the police and no other than Doomsday himself. While kept hostage by Juan Raro (J’onn J’onzz), Cuñataí Güirá (Hawkgirl), El Faisán (Green Lantern), El Ráfaga (The Flash), a transvestite named Lady Di (Wonder Woman) and El Federico (Batman), a night shift doctor fights to keep Nafta Súper alive after removing a chunk of kryptonite from his side. Enjoy this fantastic reinterpretation of the Justice League, and keep an eye out for the Joker.
This film is a hilarious argentine adaptation of the Justice League series.
